Tips on making boiling eggs

Here are some tips on boiling eggs with natural dyes.

  1. Use old eggs
    • Eggs that are older (5 days) will peel easir than fresh eggs
  2. Let the eggs warm to room temperture (15-20 minutes)
    • This helps prevent cracking
  3. Put eggs in a single layer in the pan
    • This will help the eggs from bouncing around and cracking the shells
  4. use cool water
    • This will help the eggs from cracking, by slowly raising the temprture of the egg shells
  5. cover the eggs with at least 1 inch of water
  6. Add a little salt to the water
    • this will draw out some of the water from the egg, through osmosis, making them easier to peel
  7. Once the eggs start to boil, turn the burner to low and simmer for 1 minute.
  8. After 1 minute turn the bunner off, remove the pan from the head and let the eggs for atleast 10 minutes
    • The longer they sit, the more dye can soak in
  9. Remove the eggs and place on a paper towel or wax paper
    • wax paper will pool the dye leaving spots.
  10. Do not rinse the eggs or this will remove some of the dye
